The Hockey Show - Episode 169

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced hockey radio show, returns tonight with a very interesting guest! For those of us who go through life without any major injuries, we often take little things for granted: walking, running, skating, and playing hockey as examples. For some, these activities are a challenge unto themselves due to injuries they have suffered, yet they overcome these injuries and do more than anyone ever would have imagined. The Hockey Show is proud, honoured, and humbled to feature such an individual on the show today!

Tom Rinn will join us tonight, and you will want to hear his story. Tom is a six-time World Championship gold medalist. Tom has played all over the world. Tom is an elite athlete. Tom is also an amputee. Now you might be asking yourself how he plays hockey, and the answer is simple: like everyone else! Tom Rinn is a member of the Canadian National Standing Amputee team, and he's become a mainstay on the team that has won six-straight gold medals in the sport!

Here's a quick video from Breakfast Television in Winnipeg from 2013 that features Rinn! Check it out below!

Here's another great piece from the CBC on the Canadian National Standing Amputee team!
Honestly, Rinn should be a national hero to many, and his accomplishments put him alongside hockey's upper echelon on the international stage! The Hockey Show is excited and honoured to welcome Tom to the show!

The phone lines are closed with Mr. Rinn on the program tonight, but make sure you tune your radio dial in the Winnipeg region to 101.5 on your FM dial or listen live between 5:30pm and 6:30pm CT on your web-enabled device at the UMFM webpage! Tweet me anytime with questions you may by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter. You can also post some stuff to Facebook if you use the "Like" feature, and I always have crazy stuff posted there that doesn't make it to the blog or show. We meet the incredible Tom Rinn tonight on The Hockey Show only on 101.5 UMFM!
